East Palestine Country Club Youth Golf Initiative

This summer, East Palestine Country Club is proud to launch the Jerry McGee Memorial Junior Golf League — a 6-week program built for junior golfers ages 8–14 who want to learn the game, compete with heart, and grow as people along the way.

Named in honor of East Palestine's own PGA Tour champion Jerry McGee, this league is about more than golf. Every session is designed to build skills, friendships, and character that go far beyond the course.

What to Expect

All skill levels are welcome — beginners rotate through four instructional stations covering putting, chipping, the driving range, and a clubhouse session on golf fundamentals, rules, and life skills. More experienced players play 9 holes on the course each week with a volunteer coach. 

Every week centers on a theme that connects golf to real life — integrity, resilience, pressure, and the comeback.

The season closes with a team scramble and Family Awards Picnic where every participant is recognized and season champions are crowned — including the most meaningful award in the program, the Jerry McGee Spirit Award.

A note from our team: All Jerry McGee Memorial Junior Golf League coordinators and coaches are community volunteers generously giving their time to this program. Our volunteers are not certified golf instructors. This league exists to provide the youth of East Palestine and the surrounding area an affordable, accessible opportunity to discover the game of golf — a game that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Our instruction may not be perfect, but our commitment to teaching the basics the right way, building good habits, and connecting kids to this great game absolutely is.
